Assalaamu Alaikum my dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

Jumuah Mubarak!  On this auspicious day, I address you on behalf of the community of Delft and Thicers (The Hague Islamic, Cultural, Educational and Recreational Society).   We are embarking on a very exciting project and we are trying to raise funds for two big projects:

1.      Building the first Muslim orphanage in Delft and replacing a vibacrete structure with a proper mosque and madressa

2.   Raise funds for the feeding scheme, which feeds hundreds of people, mostly muslims, on a daily basis. 

This is unfortunately as a result of the extreme poverty and the high rate of unemployment gripping our communities.  They give special attention to the poorest of the poor, which includes many destitute old people, single parents and children.  Many people are unable to take their medication because they don’t have anything to eat.

To our knowledge, there is currently no orphanage catering for Muslim children in the whole of Delft.   The number of Muslim children who are either abandoned, raped, orphaned or whose parents end up in jail or are on drugs etc, leaving these children destitute, is uncountable!

Let us not perpetuate this cycle amongst our children, but let us protect our youth and create a better future for them

Allah says in the holy Qur’an (2:83): “[and be good] to the orphans and the very poor, speak kindly to men, make prayer, and give in charity.” Subhanallah, who are we to argue!!

We therefore humbly appeal to everyone, including businesses to assist our endeavours by donating generously to our worthy cause.  With your support, Allah (S.W.T.A) will most certainly shower his choicest and richest blessings on you and your families in this world and the Aakhirah and may he bring lots of Barakat into your lives and businesses – Insha-Allah.

In order to raise funds for this worthy cause, we are holding a “Pre-Ramadaan dinner” at the Athlone Civic on the 27^th of May 2012 and would appreciate it if you could please support the cause by buying tickets for your family or company.  We also understand that many people may not be interested in attending the dinner, but would still like to support this worthy cause – in which case, you can either give a “double sadaqah” by then donating your ticket or we will give it to someone who would not be financially able to attend this function.

We would like to appeal to corporates especially to please sponsor a table and branding of the table will be more than welcome should you wish to do so.

There will be interesting entertainment as well to lighten up the afternoon.

Allah decreed that his final prophet, Muhammad (SAAS), would become an orphan at a very young age.  Besides the clear mandate within the Qur’an to care for orphans, Muslims have a natural affinity towards orphans because of the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAAS).

Allah says (105:1 – 7):

“Have you seen the one who rejects [the true spirit] of religion?

That is he who repels the orphan.

And does not advocate for the feeding of the very poor.

Woe to you worshippers!

Those who pray yet are heedless.

Those of them who strive to be seen [by men].

But neglect [societal] needs.”

Alternatively, funds can be deposited in the following account.  Please reference deposit clearly with “Thicers” and tickets can then be obtained from myself or one of the above addresses or can be donated.  We would also greatly appreciate any donations of chicken, meat, pies, cooldrinks, nibbles etc or your help cooking etc for the actual dinner to be held on the 27^th of May 2012.
