ABOUT US

The Madrasah At-Tayyibah School of Arabic is located in Welcome Estate, Cape Town. Our classes are currently held at the Gatesville Mosque (Masjidul Quds). Classes are normally held on Saturday mornings. We have also started a New Beginners Class recently. This class is conducted on Tuesday evenings between 7 – 9 pm.

All classes are currently conducted by the principal, Muhammad Idrees Kamish. Idrees Kamish is a qualified educator who holds a Teachers Degree and has several degrees, incuding a Masters Degree in Arabic & Islamic Studies. Idrees who is currently also the principal of the Walmer Estate Primary School in Cape Town, has more than 20 years experience teaching Arabic and Quran Studies.

About Us

Learn to understand the Holy Quran as you are reading it within one year through a tried and tested method. The Darun-Na’im Islamic and Arabic Institute offers an intensive two year full time Arabic and Islamic Studies Course.

This Course will equip the successful graduate with the following skills:

Ability to read and write Arabic, thus enabling them to successfully negotiate the previously untapped Arabic world.
Ability to translate the entire Quran and give a basic understanding of all its chapters, verses and major concepts.
Ability to confidently face the world in obedience to his or her creator as he/she will do a basic yet complete coverage of all Fiqh legal issues from A to Z

DTI (Dār al-Turāth al-Islāmī) is now offering all learners, male and female, an opportunity to understand the holy Quran and to gain efficiency in other Islamic disciplines. THE TONO-BUNGAY SCHOOL OF ARABIC

The Founding of the School

The Tono-Bungay school of Arabic started in 1986 at the home of Professor Mohamed in 32 Osterley Road, Crawford. The name of his house is “Tono-Bungay”, which is a title of a book by HG Wells. Thus, the school was established in 1986 with only a few students, but now has attracted larger classes, which makes the home of Professor Mohamed too small. The classes are now being conducted at the Masjidul Quds Complex, Gatesville. Only the advanced Qur’anic Arabic class continues in the Crawford home on a Thursday night.
